Wow a bad packaging job here. First off, this is 6 disks, not 2
like the diz says. Secondly, they are all not compressed the way they
should be, which is why when you downloaded this you might have been
like "holy shit!" Thirdly, the arj.exe and the install.exe each have a
virus, one has taipan the other the burglar virus. Still you don't need
either of those, just arj x -y -v to a directory, it don't matter. An
earlier version of this game was put out in a package called `Triple
   Threat.'

Anyway, you probably shouldn't download this in the first place,
because once you go to play the game, you'll see it sucks and it was a
waste of time. Mainly the reason for it sucking is because you can't
control the movement of the plane. That's right, none of the k/b keys
work for movement, although they work with firing (and so does the
mouse). There is no configuring to change it and it's supposed to work
with the arrow keys (numlock on or off made no diff). But for your
knowledge (or something) this is a plane game. You have your plane in
front of you and you see enemies approach in the distance and they fire
at you and you must avoid it. It's not a 3d game, it's more of the
asteroids type. The sound is quite loud, but does help add a little
   something to this cheapy game.

This is supposed to be the final (game says v1.06) and the Coredump
is being called a beta (game says v1.01). However I assue you the
Coredump version works fine, and at least you can get sound with that
one. This one has no sound, even though it's included, you can't
actually set it up because the install.exe is missing files you need in
order to configure it. Here's the review from issue #36 :

"Crusader is back, and improved. While you may go and call this
Crusader 2, it's really a little stretch to do that. This game is
pretty much exactly like the original, except a few minor improvements,
new levels, different exclamations from the enemies, smarter artificial
inteligence of the enemies, and limits on your animation (bad). While
some of you remember this game as "that one you could blow up everything
in" you will soon find this one loses some of that fun because of the
fact that you are limited on ammunition of even your main gun. For
those who didn't play the first one, the game idea is simple. It's a 3D
overview of rooms, you walk around, shoot people, shit that you wish you
could do in real life. You have tons of weapons to pick up, and so many
things to blow up, you could spend your entire life blowing up every
single thing. If you liked the first one a lot, then I still recommend
getting this one, although it just isn't as good and simple as the first
   one.

If you thought the first one was so-so-good, then well you really
don't need to check this one out, because it isn't much different. I
would have thought they could have made some more improvements to the
game, add some better features, and improve it a little more than they
did. When you hit "s" it also will make an annoying beep sound (it gets
annoying trust me) if there is nothing to use it for. Also, they didn't
really improve on the game engine, which although good, could have used
some bug-like fixes. Still a great game, make sure ya get the save game
fix (which is just a stupid .com file to make a dir "savegame" in your
game dir), and the music addon for music. Oh, one more thing, the
install.exe you are supposed to run to set the sound, it takes quite a
while to load, so don't go rebooting your machine when all it does is
sit their for about anywhere from 10-20 seconds with a black screen, the
regret.exe will also take quite a while to load up, just be patient.
Also, there are some rumors about this being a `beta.'

As far as I can tell, the game runs fine, exactly like the first
did, and there really is NO PROOF that this is not the final. Oh and
ONE more thing, on level 1, at one point in time you will be given a
code #121 for those keypads, the correct # is really #122, I don't know
if the game was designed to do that, but it's not #121.

       RATING : 81/100"

Welp this one is the supposed final, so if you didn't get it the
first time, get it now, and see if you can get some kind of sound addon,
because without one it will be quite dull, although it will move a lot
faster. Rating drops down a few points because there is no sound.

Well this game just about sucks balls better than that hooker last
night. It's some kind of tank game for Win/Win 95, and it's hard to
figure out what to do. The graphics are shitty and the controls are
crappy, because you have to use buttons that are practically hidden in
the picture of your tank. Then you get to look out a shitty
(pehr-uh-scope) and see a crappy image, and you can slowly move it at
the rate of 1 foot a year. Anyway this is basically a really shitty
tank game and not worth even seeing.

Phew, for a minute I thought this would be that racing car game
that's been put out so many times. Thank god, it wasn't. It was a
racing car game, der, beta, and well it's kinda boring, no sound, and
the graphics are kinda plain. You can't run off the road, because it
goes a level up so you can't run too far. It's kinda boring, and it
don't seem like you're going to fast, it's pretty easy to turn, but it's
just so boring, lame ass grassy surroundings, everything is like fucking
green, and you can't crash into anything but the side. Don't bother,
maybe they'll work on some things for the final version.

Here's yet another football game to satisfy your thirst. This one
is good, but it's just not as good as QBC'97... oh and it's of course a
demo. The game has the usual settings for gfx, and you can turn on and
off shit. You can play a normal game, with the Steelers and Cowboys and
there is sound, but no announcer (which actually is a good thing, cuz
who the hell wants to listen to John Madden bitch?). Plenty of options,
weather, graphics, speech, and the usuals. You can switch the viewing
window size, but not the actual gfx mode. If you do want it, wait for
   the full version.

   Release Date : 09 SEP 1996

Sorry I don't remember the un-supah version of this great game, but
this one is definately Super! All kinds of missions to play with this
jetfighter sim. From intercepting russian Migs to bombing runs at sea,
it's all here. You'll definately wanna break out the Sidewinder Pro for
this, as it makes full use of the POV hat, rudder, and all 4 buttons.
Too bad it didn't have any way to configure the 4 assignable buttons,
but we can't have everything I guess. If you got other flight equip,
like pedals and etc, it'll support that too.

There's quite a few controls to mess with, anything from radar
functions to in-flight refueling mechanisms to counter measures. You
also get to fly with a wingman which talks to you in that leet jetjockey
slang. You can tell him what to do as well, like break right/left, go
after certain targets, cover your tail, and etc. The speech wasn't
ripped either, so you've got all kinds of radio chatter in the
   background too.

Speaking of sound, man, never let someone get a radar lock on you,
it's REAL annoying, and maybe that's the point. :) The directx sound
screwed up on my system, garbling it, and making real nasty screeching
sounds, but I don't think it was the games fault. I'll have to go
through and screw with my drivers. Anyway, the grafix were great,
smooth even on this shitty dram stealth. Of course if it's choppy for
you, it's got a couple grafix switches to mess with like detail levels,
   and high/low res.

All in all, a great game if you've got the time to sit down and
figure out the controls, and learn the cockpit (huh huh he said CockPit)
   and HUD.

As a rule, I *really* don't like to give out anything higher than an
85, but this one, in my book, has earned it. I've played quite a few
sims, and this is one of the best ( 2nd only to Gunship for the C=64!!
   :P )

POINTS : 91 - Not game of the year, but in the top 10 of 95 games.

   Release Date : 08 SEP 1996

After all is said and done with the controversy surrounding this
game, I must ask this question: If you're going to steal a game, for
whatever reason, WHY a pinball game? Ok, enuff of that crap already..
When I was leeching it, I thought, "Another pinball game, big fucken
deal.." but when I played it, I thought, "Yup, another fucken pinball
game, this one just a little nicer." And that's exactly what it is. It
is a little nicer than all the others though.

The table is a lot larger, as the game is played full screen, and
not in a window. It's bigger proportionally too, so it's got BIGGER
BALLS!! heh heh.. Never thought I'd be able to say that in a review.
Anyway, for the most part, it's just another pinball game, but if you
don't already have 50 of em by now, check this one out. It's not half
   bad.

POINTS : 65 - Not bad as far as pinball goes, but nothing really
                     outstanding.

   Release Date : 12 SEP 1996

Hmm another dos to Win95 port... Lesse there were a couple others
too, and it's no surprise that this one sucks too. They could've added
at least SOMETHING... My first thought, was, "Cool.. MKIII in Win95..
NETPLAY!" But unfortunately, it didn't happen. No netplay, no new
nothing. To boot, this version really eats up memory or something, cuz
it swaps like a bitch, for little shit, like when the dude says Finish
   Him and shit.

Oh, THIS version is also 43 fucking disks for some odd reason. The
original MKIII was somewhere in the 20 range I think. Anyway, we all
know what MKIII is, and this is exactly the same shit we already seen a
while ago, plus the fact that it swaps so bad when the original didn't,
makes this a real dud. Get the original from someone on #oldwarez or
   something.

POINTS : 57 - Sure, I prolly woulda released it too, just cuz it's
                     MKIII, but it still sucks.

Hi, I was reading the latest tgr (which rulez) and noticed you had
problems running bug, I have exactly the same setup as you (apart from I
have a p-100 chip) the problem is with direct draw, not bug or win95,
its the diamond cards drivers, I had EXACTLY the same message, I
installed a normal s3 driver in '95 now the games works fine :0. Try it,
this game rulez, and I think it might be worth reviewing in tgr when u
   see it...

Maybe Diamond Multimedia should sort themselves out, I have had
nothing but problems with mine... its cause they are money leeching
fukers :), and wont write a specific driver unless they are paid
millions by the company developing the offending software. Anyway, as I
said : BUG is kewl... try it.. just install a normal s3 driver instead
   of the DS64 one.

       Thanks!

Damn, this guy should work for TGR.. heh heh.. HEAR THAT DIAMOND??
YOU SUCK! But, I used the standard defacto (err ummm yeah) S3 driver and
it worked just fine. I thank everyone who sent me mail about this game.
Now, what about the game?? It ROCKS! I'm not sure what kind of scrolling
it's called, but imagine a 3rd person scrolly adventure like Sonic, or
Pitfall, but where you can turn all 4 directions and have your back or
front to the camera as well. Combine that with camera zooming at the
right times and that's how BUG! works. The basic idea is to walk around
this 3d world and kill these other bugs by jumping on top of them Mario
   style.

You're also sposed to grab stuff along the way. Gameplay was just
like most scrollies, with the exception that you can go towards the
camera and away from it. The only real bitch I have with it, is that
when you die, you have to start all the way back at the very beginning
of the level. You'd think they woulda put some kind of save spot or
something in it. (Maybe there is, but I was only able to play the 1st
level, cuz it's late, I need sleep, and this needs to be done :) No
problems with speed or anything else with this one though. Ran great in
a hefty size window. You can play it in a few different screen modes,
windowed, or about 7 full screen modes, going all the way up to 640x480.
You must run it in 256 color, and it wont let you play unless 95's in
8bit mode. I can't give this one a 90+ on the points scale, cuz it just
sucks too bad when you die, but it's a keeper!

POINTS : 86 - You really oughtta leech this just to see something
                     new and exciting!

   - In last week's issue (I knew I wasn't going nuts) there were two games
in the Bubble Bobble Combo, one was the game Bubble Bobble (which I
remembered but didn't play) and the other was some rainbow game (and
an enhanced version of it). The .exe's were bb.exe and rainbow.exe,
and when I ran the bb.exe it just stayed in dos, so that is why I used
the rainbow.exe, because I was in the /game directory, and forgot
     about the bubble.bat.

Anyway, Bobble Bubble is that game that was on Nintendo and was like
really fun and stuff and that we all loved to play for hours on end.
The only bad thing about these games is your limited to the # of
continues and so you can't just beat the game if you played it for 5
hours, you'd actually have to be one hell of a kick ass player. The
other bad thing about it is the controls, but I mentioned that
     already.

The correct rating for the package + the 2 fixes is 52/100.
